Cool pictures!

This picture was taken this a.m. July 20, 2011.  This is the third baby barn owl that we have found in our barn.  The first one fell through the floor ... and was either dead or died from the fall.  Tiny little thing that didn't make it.  We've been told that the mother owls will sometimes push the smaller babies out of the nest.

Last week, during our frantic Farm to Fork preparations we found a second one, probably within minutes of falling out of the nest, laying on the ground, in slight shock.  We took him to Sarvey's in Arlington.  Wanted to keep him with us so our visitors could see a baby owl, but then common sense took over so we got him to the professionals.

Then! Today the dogs and I were out strolling around ... I always look into the barn because it's so beautiful ... all of the "stuff" moved into shipping containers ... fresh sawdust, remay on the ceiling, new walls, blah, blah, blah.  Anyway, I looked into the barn and I had to do a double take.  Look what was sitting on top of the truck.  I kept moving in closer and closer ... until the little guy was getting scared.  Snapped the last picture, then left.

I went back later to be sure that he hadn't fallen between the truck and the grate over the back.  He was okay.  Not sure if he can take care of himself yet.  He sure puffed himself up to look bigger!  He was swaying his head back and forth and looked like one of the dragons from Eragon!
